PEP Prep · Grades 4–6

PEP exam prep for Jamaican students

Help your child get ready for the Ability Test, Performance Tasks and Curriculum-Based Tests — with patient, step-by-step help every evening.

The three parts of PEP

Ability Test

Verbal and quantitative reasoning — patterns, number sequences, analogies and logic puzzles.

Performance Tasks

Real-life Math and Language Arts problems that ask children to think, plan and explain.

Curriculum-Based Tests

Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, based on what is taught in class.

A grade-by-grade plan

  1. Grade 4

Build strong basics in reading, number sense and place value. Get comfortable explaining answers in full sentences.

  2. Grade 5

Practise multi-step word problems and Performance Task style questions in Math and Language Arts.

  3. Grade 6

Sharpen reasoning for the Ability Test, then revise each subject for the Curriculum-Based Tests.

Sample Ability Test question

Keisha saves J$50, J$100, J$200 and J$400 in four weeks. If the pattern continues, how much will she save in week 5?

Hint: look at how each amount changes from one week to the next. Is something being added, or multiplied?

Parent questions about PEP

What is PEP?

The Primary Exit Profile (PEP) is Jamaica's national assessment for primary students, used for high school placement. It includes the Ability Test, Performance Tasks and Curriculum-Based Tests.

When should my child start preparing?

Steady practice from Grade 4 works best. Short, regular sessions build confidence better than last-minute cramming in Grade 6.

How does Study Buddy JA help?

Your child asks a question or snaps a photo of their homework. Study Buddy JA explains the idea step by step with Jamaican examples, offers hints, and lets your child try before showing the answer.

Can we try it for free?

Yes. Every new family gets 5 free questions — no payment needed to start.
